The ultimate space savers of all beds are Captain beds and Mate Beds. Space is always in short supply in ships so to maximize every space in the ship, they put as many drawers as they could fit under their beds. That is why we call these types of beds as Captain or Mates beds since they have their roots in the nautical world.

Captain beds usually come with two rows of drawers or one row of drawers and a pull out storage unit or pull out trundle bed. Mates beds are the same, but with one row of drawers.

Material

All of our captain and mates' beds are made of solid wood. We use knot-free wood for maximum strength. Bed frames are usually not rated for weight capacity, but we use the same rails as we use on our bunk beds which are rated for 400 lb.

All of our captain and mates beds come with wooden slats which act as a platform to eliminate the need for a box spring.

Size

Our captain and mates beds will fit Canadian standard size mattresses. We also offer extra long twin and full size captain beds. These sizes are becoming very popular with teens and taller adults.

Bookcase headboard

Some of our Captain and Mates beds do come with bookcase headboards. These headboards are part of the structure of the bed frame and you can not use them independently.

They provide additional space for storage and also can work as a nightstand.
